Well, a lot has changed. I'm engaged to my high school sweetheart. I have my own place and two cats. I've done some semi-serious modeling. I went to China for a week, then Disneyland (omg, so magical!). I auditioned for a reality TV show (and, as luck would have it, never heard from them again). I've started playing "World of Warcraft," and I visit Seattle more frequently for weekend jaunts. I've even obtained the title of "web developer" for a gig at WSU.
After almost three years at the paper (through which I saw a promotion to the newsroom, crazy changes in hours, my friends getting laid off in two rounds, cuts in wages, increased workloads with fewer staff members, losing my mind temporarily, etc.), I quit work to go back to school full-time as a digital media & art student.
And so far I'm really happy with that decision.
So I have a bit of a backlog on my computer and in my personal files to add here, it seems. Small things from my portfolio of illustrations I did for the local paper, a few class projects, the usual.
I've been keeping an eye on things, in a matter of speaking. I've found "reinspiration" through artists such as Jason Palmer (he did a "Firefly/Serenity" line that is completely awe-inspiring) and Danielle Corsetto (online comicker behind "Girls with Slingshots"). But also through my friends and classmates, seeing their enthusiasm for new projects and techniques has sort of lit a fire underneath my posterior to get ME excited and enthused over new projects and techniques. I just did this repackaging project that blew me away when I was done with it -- and it's been a seriously long time since I've been so proud of anything I've done. (I anticipate I will post it this week.)
Again, I'm pretty pleased with the risk I took.
Finals are around the corner, and an internship after that, but I think I now will have the time to earnestly maintain this (and add content -- that has been an issue over these past two years). I won't make promises, but I'll try to keep the dust from settling around here.
May the next two years see a bit more action in my gallery.
/cheers.
